Gerard Manley Hopkins was an English poet, Roman Catholic convert, and
Jesuit priest. His work became famous posthumously placing him among the
leading Victorian poets. His experimental explorations in prosody (especially
sprung rhythm) and his use of imagery was the unique feature of his poetic
works which enabled him outperform his contemporaries.
